Today husband-man took a drive out to 2nd Chance Cat Rescue. He took with him a small selection of cat and kitten food and some worming meds that we didn't need.
And this 'lack of need' will happen from time to time...like when you try a new cat food and find that your feline little ones absolutely, repeatedly hate it, or when you get freebies that you can't/won't use for your cats, or a shipping company makes an error and sends you a bunch of the wrong food (and it's more effort than it's worth to rectify the problem), or you find it's a better choice for you to get your vet to worm your pill-hating cats. I'm sure there are other instances too, but these were ours, and it was time to make our little stockpile do some good.
We'd never throw out food - sometimes we have given the odd tin, or frozen raw to other cat-friends, whose cats liked that food when ours didn't. But a cat rescue is an even better idea. We chose 2nd Chance Cat Rescue because they are a pro-life rescue group, and they have great policies in place to try and match-up cats and people for a happy fit. Husband-man reported a happy, clean cat environment run from a suburban home. It is a rescue group totally supported by volunteers.
And it's not just food that they will accept...any of these donations are welcome:
So if you need to do a bit of a clean-out of your cat things, consider giving them, and some cats in need, a second chance!
